I was invited to be apart of the Makeup Artist team for the Miss University final in The Wright Venue, Swords.

It was such a pleasure to meet Sarah McQuillan and Kellie Lanigan and I was delighted to get to do their makeup. These girls are not only smart but stunning inside and out and they have allowed me to use the quick snaps I took of the makeup before they rushed off for hair and dress fittings.

First up was Sarah, she wanted a dark smokey eye so we went for black and gold. Sarah also likes wearing bold lip colours so we went for a beautiful red. For this look or when doing any strong colours on yours eyes always do the eyes first. It saves time and stress to just clean the fallout off the skin than trying to clean it off the foundation.

1.Put your eye primer or base from lash to brow.
2.Apply a matte cream shadow from lash to brow.
3.Apply matte white shadow to highlight points ( under brow bone and tear duct )
4.Apply gold onto inner 2/3 of the eyelid
5.Apply chocolate brown to outer third of eye and up into the crease. (I use a brown before the black shadow to add depth & add warmth to the black) Also run this under the lower lashes & connect it at outer edge to the shadow on top.
6.On a fluffy brush take the light brown and blend and soften that chocolate brown up towards the brow ( not up to brow)
7. Next take a black and apply it where you’ve put the chocolate brown and into the crease.
8. You should be able to see the light brown peeking out under the black in the crease this should help it blend together and look smokey. You can always add more if needed.
9. Reapply gold to lid where it was placed before if it’s lost any intensity with blending.
10. Line eyes and add a little flick. As this is a smokey look it is not about the liner so keep it thin and the flick small. Add to water line to create a more intense look.
11. Add mascara & lashes.
12. Clean up under the eyes to prepare face for foundation.

( I used this lipstick over the Mac lipstick to add more colour, moisture and a sheen instead of gloss as I wanted it be as long wearing as possible)

Next in my chair was Kellie, she also wanted a smokey eye but she normally wears liner and likes the cat eye shape. So we decided on a cat eye smokey shape. Black and Silver was the colour choice and a nude pink lip.

For this eye look follow the steps above just pull the shadow out further to create a more cat eye lifted shape.
